The First Day Of December !
1 December 2011
Sunny and surprisingly warm
No coffee has been consumed by me: the known coffee addict!
Well folks, here we are– into the Holiday Season! We at Paul’s Hat Works love a reason to celebrate, and the holidays are one of our most favourite times to do just that. As some of you that have been around for a while know, we wrap presents up and open them each day in December for our window display. This year we downsized a bit, and only have 12 gifts for opening, as we tend to get busier and busier as the month moves on. So, for the next 12 days, tune in to see what we have wrapped up for you!
Today’s gift I opened. It is a hand-woven Ecuadorian doll. Paul #1 and I got this pretty lass when we were on our trip this past July. She was in the gift shop at the all-women ran collective we visited in Sig Sig. We really admired this doll because she is working on a hat while carrying her baby on her back. What a woman!
Here is a picture I took of her to show you:
And here! Here are some pictures of us installing the window display last night. We had warm cider and listened to Christmas tunes. Paul #2 (the least festive in the holidays) even said she wished there was theme music all year long! We (mostly Paul#1 and I) have finally gotten Paul #2 to feel the holiday cheer. One noteworthy thing about this month’s display is that we have a keyboard in the window. So, if you know how to play Christmas songs, come on down and play some for us this month! We’d love to see you and sing along!
Today, I’ve listened to Willie Nelson’s Christmas album and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. ‘Tis the season!
